YK & Northwest Arctic Health Fund

“providing health-related programs and services that benefit individuals residing in the areas of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta and Maniilaq region”

The YK & Northwest Arctic Health Fund is an endowed area-of-interest fund established to make grants for health-related projects. Eligible projects must be located in Northwest Alaska or the YK Delta region of Southwest Alaska. This fund was created when a health insurance-related trust (the Alaska Rural Employers Benefits Trust) was closed. Because the employers who had created the trust were located in Bethel and Kotzebue, the members of the trust decided to allocate remaining assets to create this fund for charitable purposes in both regions. In it’s first two years of granting, this fund will distribute two grant awards – one in the YK region and one in the Northwest region.

The YK & Northwest Arctic Health Fund defines health broadly, and eligible projects include activities that impact physical as well as behavioral and emotional health and overall wellness. Prevention projects related to those categories are also be eligible for funding.

The 2021 grant cycle will begin in the summer of 2021! Check this website in June 2021 for application and deadline information.
